Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming two ILS alumni back to the Department of Biology: Anja Amthor and Anna Lippert, who shared their career paths after completing the Integrated Life Sciences BSc and MSc programs at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg.
Their trajectories could hardly be more different — and that was exactly the point.
Anna Lippert continued in academia, completed her PhD and a postdoc in Cambridge, and is now Junior Professor for T cell mechanosensing in Würzburg. Anja Amthor moved through several professional roles and is now Process Consultant and Business Intelligence Specialist at Siemens Energy.
Both talks highlighted the broad spectrum of opportunities after ILS — from university research to industry — and both speakers emphasized how valuable the interdisciplinary and broad scientific training of the ILS program has been for their careers.
